Alerts and the weekly digest
Hear when you drop out of answers or a competitor moves ahead, by email, Slack or Telegram.
What Botlum alerts you about
Each project has four alerts. You can turn each one on or off and adjust its settings:
| Alert | Fires when |
|---|---|
| Visibility drop | Your visibility is below the threshold (50% by default) on each of the last days (3 by default), and the drop against the period before is larger than chance would explain. |
| Citation lost | Answers cited your site at least three times in the previous period and not once now. |
| Competitor overtook | A competitor's share of voice is now at least 5 points ahead of yours, where it was not ahead before. |
| New brand | A brand you do not track enters the five most named brands in your answers. |
The comparison windows are whole days ending yesterday, because today's answers are still arriving. An alert fires once and stays open until the situation is over. You get one message when it starts and, for the first three kinds, one when it ends. There are no reminders in between.
Where alerts go
Workspace admins add channels on the Notifications page. Up to 20 channels per workspace:
- Email: to a member of the workspace.
- Slack: through an incoming webhook you create in your Slack workspace.
- Telegram: to a chat or channel where you added the Botlum bot.
Use Send test to check a channel. If a channel stops accepting messages, Botlum keeps the error on the channel, so you can see why alerts are not arriving. Alerts are recorded in the history even with no channel set up.
The weekly digest
Once a week, on the day you choose, Botlum sends a summary of every project in the workspace to the channels you marked for the digest. It covers:
- visibility against the week before, with a note when the change could be noise;
- share of voice, how often your site was cited, and the competitor that leads;
- the prompts that moved most;
- domains cited for the first time;
- new brands and open alerts.
A workspace with no read answers that week gets no digest.
